![]() Slay the Princess is a choice-driven psychological horror visual novel/dating sim with dramatic branching, light RPG elements, and hand-penciled art. A new roleplaying experience from the creators of Scarlet Hollow.A branching narrative where what you say and what you believe determines both who you are and how the story unfolds. ![]() Time is a strictly linear concept and it certainly doesn't "loop," whatever that's supposed to mean. Be careful and stay focused on the task at hand! Don't even think about trying to romance her. She's just an ordinary human Princess, and you can definitely slay her as long as you put your mind to it. No, the Princess isn't a cosmic horror. Browse Slay the Princess files to download full releases, installer, sdk. She's very bad and you have to get rid of her for all our sakes. Hand-penciled art - every background and sprite is drawn traditionally with pencil and paper by Ignatz-winning graphic novelist Abby Howard.Fully voice-acted by the impeccable Jonathan Sims and Nichole Goodnight. You're not going to listen to him, are you? We're supposed to save princesses, not slay them. Don't forget, the fate of the world rests on your shoulders. She'll charm, and she'll lie, and she'll promise you the world, and if you let her, she'll kill you a dozen times over. She will do everything in her power to stop you. If you don't, it will be the end of the world. And in the basement of that cabin is a Princess. This feels kind of like what I thought the "Second Loop" would feel like if I continued behaving according to the expectations of The Damsel Loop. You're on a path in the woods, and at the end of that path is a cabin. You’re thrust into a situation with no context, walking through a forest toward a cabin where a princess who allegedly will. I'm sorry, I'll make this quick." -Incompetently flails at you crying "I'm sorry!"- Slay the Princess appears pretty single-minded in the beginning. "Something is coming over you! We both know you don't want to do this. That's the key change from the last demo. And den dey kissed and marreed xD" ending. I hope the Damsel Route has an interesting Chapter 2 and beyond, is all I'm saying. Is she hiding her strength? Or was it denied to her via the heroes perception of her? I know she said that in one other route but I'm starting to wonder if it's less about what she wants and more about what the player wants. "I can be sweet and helpless if I want to be." I am increasingly convinced that the Player Character is the 'Eldritch Being' present and the fact that the Princess actually loses (Or is hiding, says the Cynic) her powers if you deny them to her is telling. The Voice of The Hero questions if she even knows how to use a knife. She doesn't reveal herself to actually be a spooky, scary beast who kills you with her predatory power. I'm trying to unquestioningly make kind choices in an unkind world.īut there's something very, very interesting in the newer, sillier Damsel Route. A Hero r u." "And den dey married and kissed." You carry her out of the cabin and a silly title card pops up proclaiming "Yay. Now, the Voice of The Smitten makes the player feel like a bit of a sop, to the point at which I worry it may lead to a counter-silly ending to The 'Good Ending'. But she had a far greater killer instinct. The Princess had more confidence and strength when she slayed you in the original demo. The Voice of The Doubting being mostly interested in challenging the narrator (And the Hero's declaration of love) the Damsel asking "You're here to save me, aren't you?"īut here's what I regard as the key. ![]() In the original Demo, I felt like quite the hero playing the Damsel Route, and the world seemed to confirm that.
